At its annual Tech Ed conference, Microsoft has released a range of hybrid cloud administration tools and services

The resignation of Target Corp. CEO Gregg Steinhafel earlier this week indicates a growing awareness among the C-suite and boards that security is intimately intertwined with business strategy and should be viewed as a board-level issue.

Chief executive and president Gregg Steinhafel has left the company after 35 years, including giving up his seat as chairman of the company's board of directors. Steinhafel had overseen the company as CEO since 2008 and as president since 2009. His departure follows that of CIO Beth Jacobs, who was just replaced by Homeland Security veteran Bob DeRodes.

Sitting in a room with the leaders of the country's largest retailers would look decidedly different today than it did two years ago as CEO shakeups have rocked the industry.
