Scammers are attempting to harvest more than one set of credentials

Some victims get lost in the details of the payment process and run out of time.

Perpetrators of a web-based phishing scheme are accepting any email credentials, most likely in a bid to speed up the arduous, yet typically more successful process of individually targeting a specific organization in order to steal account information.

The arrival of ransomware on the mobile scene is just the beginning of a gathering storm. "This is going to be massive," said Trend Micro VP JD Sherry. "This will be the year that we see a tremendous amount of malware hitting mobile phones, and I don't think consumers and organizations are prepared to handle these attacks once they migrate to mobile devices."

The volume of mobile malware and high-risk apps soared to over two million in the first quarter of 2014, a decade after the first proof-of-concept mobile malware but only six months since the one million milestone was reached, according to Trend Micro.
