The first-ever Pwn2Own Automotive event was organized by the Trend Micro Zero-Day Initiative, the same people behind the annual Pwn2Own hacking events we have reported on over the years here at Forbes.

The first edition of Pwn2Own Automotive has come to an end and Trend Micro’s ZDI announced that participants have been awarded a total of $1,323,750 for demonstrating 49 unique and previously unknown vulnerabilities affecting automotive products.

Trend Micro is in part trying to alleviate the growing skills gap—as well as increase diversity in the field—through its Next-Gen Cyber Defenders program, a free 10-week, mostly in-person skills training experience.

Researchers and companies uncovered 96 zero-day vulnerabilities in 2023, according to data from Trend Micro's Zero Day Initiative.

Few technology or cybersecurity narratives are as compelling as that of Trend Micro's sustained success and innovative strides.
