Event marks company’s third-annual “Building a Future” service project

ORLANDO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704TSE: 4704), a global leader in security software, today announced its third consecutive “Building a Future” service project. More than 700 employees will dedicate their time and resources to help students at Grand Avenue Primary Learning Center in Orlando improve their educational and recreational opportunities.

“For the past three years we have had the privilege to give back to the communities where we live and work,” said Wael Mohamed, chief operating officer, Trend Micro. “We have made a tradition out of dedicating time and encouraging employees to connect with community members and the young minds of tomorrow to support the next generation of leaders, creators and innovators. This is a very special program that is as rewarding to our team as it is to the students.”

With the help of Hands on Orlando, a volunteering coordination agency, Trend Micro will work to revamp portions of the inner-city campus by remodeling and painting, as well conduct other outdoor improvement projects including: sanding and sealing outdoor classroom benches, planting shrubs and raking leaves, and assembling garden boxes and benches. In addition, volunteers will pack emergency lunches, assist in classrooms and interact with students. The company plans to make a $35,000 contribution to the school, and provide new supplies and books.

Last year, more than 400 “Trenders” collaborated to restore and enhance five campuses in the Dallas Independent School District, benefiting more than 3,120 students. In 2014, Trend Micro volunteered at the campus of Schaumburg Elementary in New Orleans to carry out renovation efforts that helped make a difference in the lives of 561 students.

For more than 27 years, Trend Micro has made numerous charitable contributions around the world in its ongoing effort to be a responsible corporate citizen. The company’s flagship social commitment program, Internet Safety for Kids and Families, shares volunteerism, funding, and expertise with schools and families worldwide to safeguard their online practices.
