Threat data exchange helps global brands fight email cyberattacks, protect customers and preserve brand reputation

SAN MATEO, Calif. — July 28, 2015 — Agari, the leading provider of data-driven security solutions that detect and prevent advanced email cyberthreats, and global security software leader Trend Micro Incorporated, today announced a strategic partnership to exchange threat intelligence data. The partnership entails mutual data stream exchanges to boost the speed and accuracy of threat intelligence on email-based attacks, leading to higher detection and remediation rates. The agreement protects customers of both Agari and Trend Micro against the steady stream of cyberattacks that threaten companies’ brand value and consumers’ personal information.

In joining forces, Agari and Trend Micro underscore the importance of the Agari Trust Network, an ecosystem of leading infrastructure and security solution providers to deliver best-in-class analytics and security solutions.

“Agari has targeted the world’s cybercriminals who use email to steal intellectual property and sensitive personnel information,” said Tom Kellermann, chief cybersecurity officer for Trend Micro. “By exchanging threat intelligence data, Trend Micro and Agari can better protect customers, brands, and sensitive information from the ever-increasing onslaught of cybercrime.”

“Agari’s threat intelligence for email is both unique and extensive. With Agari seeing information related to more than 10 billion email messages daily, even the darker areas of the Internet receive illumination,” said Patrick Peterson, CEO and founder of Agari. “Trend Micro has consistently been a leader in their depth of knowledge related to email abuse. The work Agari and Trend Micro can do together will set up the clients and brands we work with for success against cybercriminals.”

Through partnerships with major ISPs, Agari enables the large-scale collection and aggregation of email threat data from billions of email messages daily. With Trend Micro’s more than 26 years of experience in providing security solutions, the partnership gives deeper and broader protection to its customers, who, in turn, must protect their own customers’ sensitive digital data.

Email is the number-one source of unmanaged risk in today’s enterprise and the primary vector of cyberattacks against companies and consumers. Through Agari’s work with leading companies in the technology, healthcare, financial and consumer industries and the data gained from its Agari Trust Network, as well as work with partners such as Trend Micro, businesses and consumers are ensured protection from cyberattacks using email as the threat vector.
