Trend Micro CEO Eva Chen Named One of the Top 100 Most Influential Executives in the Industry By Everything Channel's CRN

CUPERTINO, Calif., Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Trend Micro CEO and co-founder Eva Chen was named one of the 100 Top Most Influential Executives in the Industry by Everything Channel's CRN. Chen was included on the Influential Leader list, as well as on the 25 Most Influential Executives list, for her leadership and influence on the channel.

Since Trend Micro's inception in 1988, Eva Chen has turned the company into one of the world's most innovative and channel-friendly Internet content security providers. Before becoming CEO, Eva served as executive vice president from 1988-1996 and CTO from 1996-2004. Under her direction, Trend Micro has produced a string of industry firsts, from unique products to security management approaches. She was appointed CEO in late 2004.

Trend Micro, a channel-driven company, provides the tools, solutions, and services to ensure partner success. In 2008 the company introduced the Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™, a next-generation cloud-client content security infrastructure designed to protect customers from Web, email, and file threats. In 2009, Trend Micro launched a new SaaS for the Channel program to help educate, incent and enable Trend Micro channel solution partners to sell hosted products.

Selected by the editors of CRN, the Top 100 Most Influential Executives in the Industry recognizes executives who have changed the way the channel does business today and in the future. This year's list salutes the 25 Most Influential Executives - individuals who are focused on innovation, as well as consistency and those overcoming remarkable challenges; the 25 Channel Sales Leaders - hard charging executives who are driving their indirect organization and partners forward with sales and marketing initiatives; the 25 Most Innovative Executives - individuals who exude innovation from either a technology or business strategy front; and the 25 Mavericks - executives whose brash and bold thinking is changing the rules of the channel.

"Trend Micro believes that security should fit into a company's overall IT infrastructure. Channel partners are the key to helping us achieve this goal for our customers," said Chen. "Our channel strategy is to come out with the most innovative products and solutions both for the channel and our customers."

"With so many innovative channel executives in the industry today we've expanded our list to include 100 executives. We've highlighted the most influential, the sales leaders, the most innovative as well as those who have changed the rules of the channel. We salute these leaders for their hard work and devotion to the technology channel," said Robert C. DeMarzo, senior vice president and editorial director, Everything Channel.

The Top 100 Most Influential list was based on nominations from solution providers and industry executives rating channel influence, effectiveness and visibility along with business and sales impact.

The final selections were made by a panel of Everything Channel Editors with input from the senior management team and VAR and customer Advisory Board. Among the long list of criteria were sales through the channel, VAR specific sales, channel investment and resources, top executive channel advocacy and visibility, year long performance in Everything Channel research projects including Annual Report Card and Channel Champs.

Winners were announced in the November 30 issue of CRN. To read about the Top 100 Most Influential Executives in the Industry, go to www.channelweb.com.
